Anabolic Steroids for Women Become Popular Drugs

Regardless of Side Effects, Females are Bodybuilding to Lose Weight

Jul 18, 2007 Lori Henry

Anabolic steroids in women are becoming popular drugs. Ignoring side effects, females are bodybuilding and taking drugs to lose weight.

There are more and more women taking anabolic steroids these days. In an effort to lose weight, many females are going to the gym or bodybuilding, eating healthy and, when they are still a few pounds away from their ideal, resorting to drugs or supplements.

Not only are anabolic steroids dangerous, there are many side effects that can pose great threats to their health, the lesser being agitation, stress, excess sweating and heart palpitations.

These women are not likely to want to starved look of losing weight without gaining muscle and are more focused on celebrities who are still very thin but have muscles. Think Madonna rather than Victoria Beckham.

Anabolic steroids promise a toned body with muscle mass, but still thin. Women think that recovery time from workouts is less when taking these drugs and that their mental capacities become sharper. Also common are the thoughts of improved self esteem and body image, as well as greater sexual energy.

Of course, even if those benefits are attained, they’re mixed with liver dysfunction, benign and malign tumors, irregularities of the menstrual cycle, “acne, hair loss, withdrawal of the frontal hair line, male pattern baldness, lowering of the voice, increased facial hair growth, and breast atrophy” (Encyclopedia of Sports Medicine and Science, 1998).

The UK has seen a dramatic increase in anabolic steroid use, both orally and by injection. A recent study by the University of Glamorgan reported that steroid abuse of certain prescription drugs was in use among gym goers.

Since then, over a 5 year span, another increase of 44 percent has been seen in both steroids and body building drugs. 600 more needles were used during one month of the study.

Surprisingly, researchers have noticed that steroid use among elite athletes has declined, as drug tests have become a regular part of the process. But sales of anabolic steroids are higher than ever, leading investigators to believe that regular gym goers are taking the drugs.

The leading consumers of these steroids, shockingly, are young professionals looking for a better body and to lose some weight. And the age ranges are getting younger. It’s reported that 14 and 15 year olds are offered steroids as the third most common drug, after marijuana and amphetamines.

In the USA, use in girls has skyrocketed to almost 200,000 young American women. It is estimated that 500,000 to 600,000 teenagers in the country have used anabolic steroids (Times Online, 2007).

It seems that as the pressure to attain a certain physique rises in both sexes, both men and women are taking drugs in order to sculpt their bodies into “perfection.” How many side effects must be reported before we realize the damage we are doing to, not only our physical bodies, but to our spirits as well?

We are a well-known production company that produces television movies among many other types of productions. We are looking for a true story about a teenage girl who struggled with steroid use for body image purposes. We have a long history of producing critically acclaimed programs, often based on true stories such as these, with a determination to present the material in a dignified and honest manner. If you or someone you know fits into this need, please contact us at steroidsstory@gmail.com. If we move forward in developing a movie based on the story, the life rights person can be compensated, and we can change names to protect anonymity.

Thanks very much.

This article is such a crock! You take the "POSSIBLE" cons and amplify them in such a misleading fashion that it's ridiculously obvious to someone with a few brain cells. There is a difference between oral steroids and intramuscular injections. There is also a difference in using a drug and abusing a drug. When you use the drug responsibly it can give you all the benefits you want while keeping these harmful side effects you speak of nonexistent. For you to obscure these key factors to help substantiate your argument is nonsense.

Thanks for your comment, Guest. Although it seems simple to some, others are caught in the chaos of an eating disorder and aren't thinking straight. While obviously not everyone who uses these drugs is abusing them, so many are.

I decided to move up from a simple multi-vitamin and decided to go with the best on the market, which is the Dr Max Powers "Anabolic Stack". The more I research, the more I realize it is a good idea to suppliment the diet with a good multi.

Since I am the gym and working out quite a bit, I could justify stepping up to the Dr Max Anabolic Stack. I have been taking them for almost 3 weeks and seem to have additional energy. I have had no side effects at all and have gotten used to taking all the pills in the morning.

I recommend this product for those that are active and want to ensure they are meeting all their vitamin and mineral needs. If this doesn't cover it.. nothing will!
